International Student Admission Process

Thank you for your interest in Paradise Valley Community College (PVCC). PVCC is one of the ten Maricopa Community Colleges in the Phoenix, Arizona area and offers freshman and sophomore level college classes. Students wishing to attend PVCC on a F-1 (student ) visa must apply for an I-20.

To be guaranteed consideration for admission, all application materials must be received by July 1 for the fall semester and October 1 for the spring semester.

The application process for the I-20 includes the following steps:

  1. Complete the International Student Information Form
  2. Have your most recent Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score report mailed directly to Paradise Valley Community College (2179). A TOEFL score of 500 (on the traditional TOEFL) or 173 (on the computer based test) or 61 (on the internet-based test-IBT) is required for admission to Paradise Valley Community College, unless Engish is the primary language. The TOEFL must have been taken within two years of the date for which admission is being sought.
  3. Submit an official high school transcript in English. Graduation from a secondary school equivalent to an American high school is required. Official records and transcripts, translated into English must accompany your application. Contact the A&R office for information on foreign transcript evaluation.
  4. Enclose a Financial Certification statement showing that you have a minimum of $20,410 per year. A bank statement, on the financial institution’s letterhead, is also required and it must be translated into English. All reported moneys must be verified in US dollars.

If your application is approved, an I-20 will be mailed to you by Paradise Valley Community College. It is your responsibility to take the completed I-20 to the American Consulate in your country.

Students attending Paradise Valley Community College on a F-1 visa must enroll in and complete a minimum of 12 credit hours every Fall and Spring semester. You will be classified as a nonresident and must be prepared to pay at least $3,804 in nonresident tuition, a $15 registration fee, and associated course fees each semester.

You must also pay for mandatory health insurance provided through Paradise Valley Community College and will be included in the tuition and fees unless the student provides documentation of personal health insurance. The Maricopa Community Colleges’ Governing Board reserves the right to change tuition and fee charges and may occur without notice.
