Federal Work Study

Federal Work-Study (FWS) provides part-time jobs for undergraduate and graduate students with financial need, allowing them to earn money to help pay education expenses. The program encourages community service work and work related to the student’s course of study.

To qualify, a student must have filed the FAFSA, completed their student center 'To Do' List, and have financial need as determined by the FAFSA. A minimum enrollment of 6 credits during the semester is required. Check with PVCC's Financial Aid Office to see if you qualify.  Fall semester work schedules may begin as early as August 17, 2013 or as determined by the department.

Job Title:  Science Lab Assistant
Department:  Science Division
Hours:  20 to 25 Hours per week
Schedule:  Hours flexible - to be discussed during the interview process

Job Summary
Assist lab technicians in organizing and preparing equipment and materials used for lecture and laboratory experiments and maintain/clean laboratory facilities.
Job Duties:  Assist lab personnel with day to day tasks that benefit the instruction of Science Division courses

  • Current PVCC student
  • Willingness to learn proper lab procedures
  • Ability to take and follow directions

Job Title:  America Reads, America Counts Tutor
Department:  Office of Financial Assistance
Pay Rate:  $10.00 per hour
Hours per week:  P/T, up to 20 hours/ week, between 9:00 am - 3:00 pm 

Job Duties/ Qualifications:  Tutor for Elementary school children in Reading and Math. Position is off campus, reliable transportation is required. Applicant must be reliable, have good communication skills, able to work well with children.  All applicants must comply with health and safety requirements, including but not limited to fingerprinting, background checks and health screening.
