PUMA TRACK EXCELS AT NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Paradise Valley Track and Field teams wrapped up their 2019 season with two top-20 finishes at the NJCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship meet on May 18th. The Paradise Valley women finished 19th overall with a score of 10 points, while the men finished 20th place with 14 points.  Meet host New Mexico Junior College won the women’s competition while Cloud County Community College won the men’s.

Scoring for the Pumas, and earning All-American honors, were Lily Standley, pole vault- 3rd, Stephanie Casaus, pole vault- 7th, and Karli Fawcett, pole vault- 8th, Taylore Lowry, 10,000m- 8th, Israel Oloyede, hammer- 2nd, and Trevor Leinstock, javelin- 3rd.  Oloyede’s throw of 63.13 meters (207’1”) in the hammer throw was a Paradise Valley record.

Daniel Marquez- 4 x 800m relay

Jared Nation- Decathlon

Jason Ortega- 5000m

Cooper Wantland- 4 x 800m relay, 800m

Tim White- 4 x 100m relay, 4 x 400m relay, 200m

Calvin Wilson- 4 x 100m relay, 4 x 400m relay, 400m hurdles

Ivan Zaharchenko- 4 x 100m relay, 4 x 400m relay
