Join Paradise Valley Community College to celebrate the 2023 Lunar New Year. Sunny Valentine is a Chinese Opera singer who has received vocal training from Belcanto masters, professors, and teachers from Italy, Russia, China, and the United States. Valentine has performed a solo concert in the prestigious He Luting Concert Hall of Shanghai Conservatory of Music, achieving the goal of singing 18 advanced Italian arias and art songs in a concert hall for an 800 person audience and has performed before 10,000+ patrons in Guang Zhou and Shen Yang, China. She has also performed in China, the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and Macau. In this presentation, Sunny would share her knowledge and talents on Art Songs in China, focusing on how this art form has evolved in China with classical, modern and contemporary Chinese poetry being combined into this Western vocal music composition. Along with the presentation, Sunny will demonstrate some art songs through her beautiful voice, accompanied by a professional pianist.
