Starting college can be overwhelming, stirring up doubt, nerves, and tons of questions. We asked Paradise Valley Community College students to share the main things they wished they’d known before starting at PVCC. Here’s what they said:
1) All the free resources available to students through PVCC’s Buxton Library. It’s not just books!
2) Option to rent textbooks versus buying them. Sites including Chegg, Knetbooks, Ecampus, and Amazon Prime will loan you textbooks for a fraction of the price as buying new ones.
3) Student Life’s Club Rush event each fall and spring semester which features more than two dozen clubs and organizations.
4) The Puma Power Up tutorial and how beneficial it would be in understanding the lay of the land. This mandatory online tutorial provides answers to the many of the questions you’re asking yourself.
5) How much help my advisor would be in navigating my classes, schedule, and transfer options. Meet regularly with your advisor as well as your professors and take advantage of their office hours.
6) PVCC’s transfer partnerships enable you to transfer to a four-year college with your credits to complete your bachelor’s degree. Don’t reinvent the wheel.
7) That PVCC has a Phi Theta Kappa chapter – Alpha Omicron Chi.
8) About all the student jobs available on campus. Career Services offers a variety of avenues for employment opportunities including webinars, access to alumni, work study programs, and our newly implemented job shadowing program.
9) Free Culture Passes available to MCCCD students which are great for sightseeing in and around Phoenix.
10) To check out PVCC’s OER education materials and resources which, depending on what you are studying, can save you a lot of time and money.

Entrar a el Colegio Comunitario puede ser abrumador, crear dudas, nervios y muchas preguntas. Les pedimos a los estudiantes de Paradise Valley Community College que compartieran las cosas más importantes que desearían haber sabido antes de comenzar en PVCC. Esto es lo que dijeron:
