Congratulations to Luis Angulo, who was recently awarded the Puma Pin by Paradise Valley Community College President Dr. Paul Dale, for his actions both on and off the field. PVCC has a long history of awarding the Puma Pin to faculty and staff who go above and beyond in representing the school’s Puma spirit. In recent years, Dr. Dale has extended that recognition to students who are observed exemplifying the college’s mission, vision, and values.
“Luis Angulo is one of those players I will see only two-to-three times in my career,” said Head Soccer Coach Christian Devries, who nominated Angulo for this recognition. “He has made me a better coach, husband, father, and friend to those around me by how he lives his life and models the right way to treat others.”
Luis came to the United State from Venezuela six years ago and taught himself English. He currently holds a 3.71 GPA and has plans of becoming a nurse after his soccer career comes to a completion.
Many of the highlights that underscore Angulo’s character include:
He is a member of the Leadership Council for men’s soccer
He received PVCC’s highest athletic honor for playing, academics, leadership, and community service – Athlete of Significance
He earned the United Soccer Coaches Player of Distinction (2020 and 2021)
He was nominated for United Soccer Coaches Academic All American 2021
PVCC is proud to call Angulo one of our own.
