Ever heard the expression - “Eat that Frog?” It stems from a Mark Twain quote implying that if you eat a live frog every morning, the rest of your day will be easier because you’ve taken care of the hardest part. The famous quote can be applied to all aspects of life meaning – tackle the biggest or hardest thing first each day, and the rest will fall into place.
Procrastination is the opposite of this practice and affects nearly every single one of us at one time or another.
So in honor of National Procrastination Week, consider some healthy habits to avoid procrastination in your life.
- To-Do lists are a great crutch. By writing down top priorities each or each week can help you get organized and make an action plan. And it feels great to cross things off that list!
- Commit to daily, weekly, or monthly goals by giving yourself self imposed deadlines.
- Use the buddy system for getting things done. Working in a group and being accountable to others helps focus on the task at hand.
- Avoid distractions such as your phone, which can suck you in with texts and social media alerts.
- Take care of yourself. Getting enough sleep and good nutrition helps with focus, reduces stress and helps you retain information better.
