With more than 30 years’ experience working in the music industry, and 14 years teaching at PVCC, Keenan continues to make a huge impact on both his students and the music community. He is a strong advocate for PVCC’s Fine Arts and Music departments who has had a hand in the college’s assessment sessions and long-term planning.
"Working together in the Commercial Music Program allows me to channel my passion for Music Industry Studies into inspiring the next generation of students,” said Keenan. “Whether I’m teaching Audio Mixing, Pro Tools or Sound Design, I’m dedicated to equipping students with real-world skills that align with the evolving landscape of the entertainment industry, ensuring they are well-prepared for their careers.
"We are incredibly fortunate to have John Keenan as part of PVCC’s Music Industry Studies program,” said Dr. Chris Scinto, Fine and Performing Arts division chair. “His extensive technical expertise in music production, combined with decades of real-world industry experience, greatly enriches both classroom learning and the hands-on opportunities students gain during live events."
One of Keenan’s most notable achievements includes being part of the production team behind Kristine W’s track, "By My Side," which reached No. 11 on the United Kingdom’s Commercial Pop Charts. This success showcases his ability to produce chart-topping music while emphasizing the value of collaboration in the industry.
Additionally, Keenan contributed to a team that earned the prestigious 2024 International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) award for Best Audio Contribution for Ferrari World Dubai. His role in creating immersive audio experiences highlights the vital role of sound in the entertainment world.
