The 2024 Be a Student’s Hero giving campaign once again brought all the Maricopa Colleges together to raise funds for critical basic needs, student scholarships and more. Paradise Valley Community College came in second place among the 10 colleges, setting a new college record of $19,000 – well above this year’s PVCC Puma Goal of $15,000.
PVCC also had a record number of donors, with 72 donations from employees, alumni and community members that were devoted to supporting student scholarships for the college.
“I am grateful to all the donors who have generously supported our students. The whole PVCC community truly came together to uplift our students,” said PVCC Interim President Dr. Jana Schwartz, adding that these donations help to empower PVCC students because they know there is a community standing with them.
The district-wide event took place April 29 through May 3 with donations going directly to the PVCC’s Student Success Scholarship – a general scholarship fund that provides remarkable opportunities to those students who need it the most.
“We are so pleased that our community was able to come together for this important initiative that provides financial support and hope to many of our students,” said Mario Marquez, senior development officer, PVCC Office of Strategic Partnerships.
PVCC’s Office of Strategic Partnerships is the college’s liaison with the Maricopa Community Colleges Foundation, fostering philanthropic support through generous faculty, staff, alumni and friends. In doing so, there’s improved college access, increased educational opportunity, equity and countless lives are positively impacted.
You can still donate today and make a difference in the lives of PVCC students!
