Celebrate, Learn and Engage: PVCC’s Black History Month Events

In recognition of Black History Month, Paradise Valley Community College (PVCC) is proud to celebrate the rich history, culture, and contributions of Black Americans. Each February, the observance provides an opportunity for reflection, education, and meaningful dialogue that strengthens our community.

Black History Month traces its origins to 1926 when historian Carter G. Woodson and the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH) initiated an annual recognition of Black Americans’ contributions. The observance expanded to a month in 1976, highlighting the significant impact of Black individuals throughout history. Today, we continue to honor these legacies by fostering understanding, appreciation and inclusivity within our campus and beyond.

Join PVCC as we celebrate Black History Month with a series of events designed to educate, inspire, create meaningful dialogue, and bring our community together. Highlights include:
