Paradise Valley Community College’s Festival of Tales is back for its 16th year, continuing its mission to inspire young readers and promote cultural understanding. Since 2009, this beloved event has welcomed over 30,000 attendees and given away 60,000 free books to families across Maricopa County.
Join us on April 26 for a day of storytelling, live entertainment, book giveaways, arts & crafts, and interactive activities—all designed to spark a love of learning. PVCC students from the Education program, the Fine Arts department, and campus clubs will bring stories to life as volunteers, engaging children in the joy of reading.
“Festival of Tales is more than an event—it’s a celebration of community,” said Dr. Jana Schwartz, PVCC president. “By bringing families together through the joy of reading, we empower the next generation with the tools for success.”
This year’s event is once again presented in partnership with Southwest Human Development, Arizona’s largest nonprofit supporting early childhood education, and sponsored by Phoenix-based law firm Engelman Berger.
“Partnering with SWHD allows us to make a real impact,” said Meggin Kirk, director of PVCC’s Education Program. “It’s incredible to see a child’s face light up when they pick out a new book or connect with a storyteller. That’s the heart of this festival—making literacy accessible, exciting, and fun for all families.”
