Paradise Valley Community College (PVCC) is excited to announce its new Cybersecurity 2+2 partnership with Arizona State University (ASU), a program designed to provide students with a cohesive and seamless transfer with an associate’s degree in hand and a bachelor’s degree in clear sight.
This fully transferable pathway gives PVCC students the opportunity to earn their Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Cybersecurity, then transfer up to 75 credits toward their Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus in cybersecurity at ASU’s New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences. At ASU, students will complete an additional 18 credit hours with a cybersecurity focus, plus 12 elective credits that can be tailored toward cybersecurity or interdisciplinary topics to broaden their expertise.
“This partnership creates an incredible opportunity for our students to continue their education without losing credits or momentum at one of the most innovative universities in Arizona. Cybersecurity is a growing and vital field, and this pathway ensures our graduates have the education and skills necessary to enter a competitive job market,” said Dr. Sean Petty, Interim Dean of Career & Technical Education, PVCC.
“Through this partnership, we want to help students see a clear pathway from their starting point at PVCC all the way to the finish line of a bachelor’s degree here at Arizona State University and the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences,” said David Anaya, assistant director of Undergraduate Services at the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences, ASU. “Students who are pursuing their AAS in Cybersecurity and are looking to turn that into a BAS can now do that while transferring more credits to help achieve their career goals in cybersecurity and beyond.”
High-Demand Cybersecurity Careers
The cybersecurity industry continues to expand rapidly, with the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projecting a 32 percent job growth rate for information security analysts through 2032—far outpacing the average growth rate for other occupations. The median annual salary for cybersecurity professionals exceeds $112,000, making it a highly lucrative and stable career choice.
Graduates of the PVCC-ASU Cybersecurity 2+2 program will be well-prepared for careers in both the private sector and government agencies, including:
- Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)
- U.S. Department of Homeland Security
- National Security Agency (NSA)
- Department of Defense
- Major corporations and financial institutions
Additionally, students who complete the program will be strong candidates for graduate study, further expanding their career potential.
The Cybersecurity 2+2 pathway is an ideal choice for students looking to apply the technical knowledge gained at PVCC while broadening their education at ASU through interdisciplinary coursework. This program not only prepares students for entry-level employment but also empowers them to explore the evolving landscape of cybersecurity and digital defense.
