Paradise Valley Community College (PVCC) is gearing up for one of its most exciting and dynamic traditions—Puma Palooza! What began as a wellness event has evolved into a vibrant, student-centered celebration of community, academic achievement, and campus life. Since 2010, this highly anticipated event has brought together students, faculty, and staff to engage in interactive activities, enjoy live entertainment, and celebrate the college experience.
Set for Wednesday, March 26, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Cordova Plaza, this year’s Puma Palooza will focus on:
- Building Community—connecting students, faculty, and staff in meaningful ways
- Showcasing Fields of Interest (FOI)—highlighting academic disciplines and the student clubs associated with them
- Providing a Mid-Semester Study Break—giving students an opportunity to unwind and recharge.
Over the years, Puma Palooza has grown from an employee-sponsored health and wellness event to a more district-focused student event, incorporating the Maricopa County Community College District’s ‘I Will Graduate’ initiative, reinforcing the importance of student success and completion, and the integration of MCCCD’s guided pathways, showcasing the district’s eight Fields of Interest through engaging exhibits and activities hosted by faculty and academic advisors. This year’s event will continue this tradition, offering students insight into their academic and career pathways while fostering a sense of belonging on campus.
This year’s Puma Palooza will feature a variety of engaging activities, including inflatable games, a balloon artist, and captivating performances from the Center for Performing Arts (CPA), which always proves to be a student favorite. Student clubs will host interactive booths that reflect their respective disciplines, giving students a chance to explore new interests and get involved on campus. Additionally, community partners will be present, providing even more opportunities for engagement and networking.
“There’s a lot of hope and excitement about the future percolating at Puma Palooza,” said Mike Ho, director of Student Life. “It’s inspiring to see students come together, connect with their peers and faculty, and feel encouraged in their academic journeys. This event is all about fostering community, supporting student success, and making sure every student knows they belong here at PVCC.”
As students reach the mid-semester mark, Puma Palooza offers a well-deserved break—a time to refuel, have fun, and remember why they embarked on their educational journey in the first place. Whether you’re exploring academic programs, enjoying live entertainment, or simply soaking in the vibrant campus energy, this year’s event promises to be another memorable chapter in the tradition of Puma Palooza.
