CPAT

The IAFF/IAFC Fire Service Joint Labor Management Wellness/Fitness Initiative Candidate Physical Ability Test© consists of eight separate events. The CPAT is a sequence of events requiring the candidate to progress along a predetermined path from event to event in a continuous manner. This test was developed to allow fire departments a means for obtaining pools of trainable candidates who are physically able to perform essential job tasks at fire scenes.

FSC130: CPAT is designed to prepare the student to meet the necessary requirements needed in order to be successful taking an official CPAT test.  The student will get an introduction to the course layout and events, as well as teach proper technique and physical training.

The course is offered each Fall and Spring semesters, and consists of six (6) two-hour training sessions, followed by an official CPAT test with a licensed testing agency.  It is offered as a "Credit by Exam" course, meaning you and the designated course instructor will schedule the required training sessions based on the current training site availability (typically Monday or Wednesday evenings between 5:00pm - 8:00pm).  Training sessions may be accommodated outside of this window, but at the instructor's discretion.  Students will need to complete the required training sessions and official CPAT test within the designated semester date range.  Please visit the class schedule for course offerings.

For those interested in this course, please contact the EMT/FSC Office for course availability and information at (602) 787-6782 / pvcc.fsc.emt@paradisevalley.edu.

CPAT Offerings

For those looking to take strictly an official CPAT test and not our training course, the National Testing Network is currently the only officially licensed testing agency available in the greater Phoenix region.

NOTE: If you've never taken a CPAT before, we highly recommend taking our CPAT training class, FSC130, to become familiar with the test, course layout, course events, and physical fitness needed to be successful. Please see the above section "FSC130 - CPAT Class" for course information, and visit the class schedule for course offerings.
