Presidents' Honors Scholarship

If you have graduated from a high school within the last year and half with a unweighted GPA of 3.25 or higher you could qualify for our scholarship! 

What does the scholarship cover?

The Presidents Honor Scholarship covers in-state/in-county tuition up to fifteen (15) credit hours (plus the $15.00 registration fee) per semester, but does not apply to summer sessions. 

The monetary value of the Presidents' Honors Scholarship for 2023-2024 academic year is $1,470.00 per semester (tuition up to fifteen (15) credits plus the $15.00 registration fee). The scholarship funds do not cover books, supplies, additional class fees, or private lessons. Any financial amount over the scholarship award is the student’s responsibility.

The scholarship will cover (4) semesters if the student is doing an Associates degree and cover (8) semesters if the student is doing one of the MCCCD Bachelors degrees. 

To be eligible for the Presidents’ Honors Scholarship, you must:

  • Completion of a secondary education program in Maricopa County (including NCA-accredited, Charter, Private, Religious high schools, or Home-school), with a final, unweighted, GPA of 3.25 or higher.
  • An official transcript must be on file with PVCC and an unofficial copy provided to Honors
  • Start at PVCC within 3 academic semesters (not including summers) of high school graduation without attending another college/university in between (not including concurrent enrollment, dual enrollment, and summer session)
  • Show Legal presence in the United States and be eligible to receive public funds.
  • Reside in Maricopa County while on scholarship

Deadlines:

Fall 2025

Mandatory Orientation: August 20th, 2025 from 4:00 - 5:30 PM in KSC1000
Deadline to Apply: August 15th, 2025. Applications received after August 15th, 2025 may not be accepted.

Spring 2026

Mandatory Orientation: TBD
Deadline to Apply: January 12th, 2026. Applications received after January 12th, 2026 may not be accepted.

Fall 2026

Mandatory Orientation: TBD

Pres Scholar

In order for the scholarship to be renewed each semester the students must meet all the following requirements:

  • Maintain continuous enrollment as a full time student for each semester the scholarship covers
  • Enroll in and complete at least 12, letter-graded credits (100 level or higher) each fall and spring semester (Pass/Fail excluded unless degree specific but must be verified with College Honors Program before enrollment)
  • Enroll in and complete with a grade of "C" or better in at least 3 credits of honors course work/contract each semester
  • Maintain an MCCCD cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher, including co-enrollment and dual enrollment grades
  • Complete the required Co-Curricular Activities each funded semester as defined by the Honors Program 

Student will fall under probation if:

  • Does not maintain a cumulative GPA above a 3.25 from their second semester to completion but is above a 3.0 and completed all other requirements (passed their honors class & completed both Co-curricular activities)

Students will not be eligible for renewal of the scholarship if:

  • Their cumulative Maricopa GPA is below a 3.0 at the end of their first semester and continuing
  • Fail to complete their honors course work or a sufficient number of credit hours
  • Receive less than a "C" grade in their honors course
  • Does not complete the minimum number of required co-curricular activities during the semester
  • Does not maintain a cumulative GPA above a 3.25 from their second semester to completion 
  • Does not complete at least 12 credits in the semester

Presidents' Honors Scholars may request a deferment of their scholarship for up to two years to accommodate significant life events, medical issues, or participation in approved activities. Deferment maintains scholarship eligibility, ensuring that students can confidently return and continue their Honors journey at PVCC. Students may apply for a deferment here
